Lomi Lomi massage in McKinney, TX the Hawaiian long stroke
Lomi Lomi massage is the Hawaiian style — long, continuous forearm and hand strokes that travel the length of the body in one pass instead of working spot by spot. At Spring Massage on North Coit Road it runs 60, 90 or 120 minutes, from $80, seven days a week until 9:30 PM.

What Lomi Lomi massage actually is
It is a stroke pattern, not a pressure setting. The therapist works with the forearm as much as the hand, and the strokes are long and unbroken — a single pass can begin at one shoulder and finish at the opposite hip without lifting off. A Swedish massage covers a region and moves on; deep tissue parks on one knot for ten minutes. This work keeps travelling. The studio's own booking page puts it in a line: "long, flowing strokes to release muscle tension and promote deep relaxation."
The difference shows up inside the first ten minutes. More oil is used, because the strokes have to glide rather than grip. There is more rocking, and your arms and legs are moved as well as pressed. There are fewer stops. Sixty minutes is $80 here, against $65 for the same hour of relaxation work and $70 for deep tissue; 90 minutes is $110 and two hours $140. For the long version, our guide to what Lomi Lomi massage is walks through a whole session and is candid about what nobody can honestly claim for it.
Where the name comes from
In Hawaiian, lomi means to rub, knead or press, and doubling a word is an ordinary intensifier in the language; lomilomi is the name carried by the traditional bodywork of the islands. Being straight about this matters. What sits on our menu is the technique — the flowing, whole-body stroke pattern that spa menus around the world borrowed. It is not a practice handed down inside a Hawaiian family, and we attach no ceremonial or spiritual claim to it. The two things share a name. They are not the same thing.
Four things it is not
- No stones, no tools. Hands and forearms only. The warmth people describe comes from pace, oil and unbroken contact.
- Not deep tissue. Pressure sits in the medium range and stays adjustable throughout. For one knot you can point to, book deep tissue massage in McKinney instead.
- Not a medical treatment. No approved health authority publishes research on this style, so nothing on this page claims it treats a condition.
- Not a package. One therapist, one table, one published price — 60, 90 or 120 minutes.
What an hour on the table is like
A 60-minute appointment usually breaks down roughly as follows. Timings shift with what you ask for, and you can change the pressure or skip an area at any point in the session.
-
The two-minute conversation
The therapist asks where you want the work, what to avoid, and how firm you like it. You undress to your own comfort level and stay draped the whole time. The American Massage Therapy Association's guide to a massage session covers the etiquette, as does our note on what to expect at a first massage. -
The first ten minutes
Oil, then broad opening passes across the back and shoulders while the tissue warms. Nothing deep happens yet. If the pressure is wrong, this is the easiest moment to say so. -
The middle thirty-five
The session settles into the long strokes: forearm passes running the full length of the back, then the legs and arms, with the limbs gently moved and rocked between passes. This stretch is what people book the style for. -
The last ten minutes
Pace drops. Shorter strokes, neck and shoulders, then a still minute at the end. The therapist leaves the room while you dress. Card payments carry a $2 transaction fee, so bring cash if you would rather skip it.
What Lomi Lomi massage in McKinney costs
Three lengths, three published prices, no membership to join. What you see is what you pay on a first visit and on a tenth. The whole menu, side by side with every other service, sits on our McKinney massage price list.

Choosing 60, 90 or 120 minutes
Sixty minutes ($80) covers back, shoulders, arms and legs at a pace that stays continuous — the honest minimum for a style built on long passes. Ninety ($110) is where most regulars land, because the feet, hands and neck get real time rather than a token minute each. Two hours ($140) is for people who want nothing rushed at all, and the rate per minute falls with every step up: $80 for 60 minutes, $110 for 90, $140 for 120. There is no 30-minute version, because a travelling stroke needs somewhere to travel.
Hawaiian massage compared with Swedish and deep tissue
"Hawaiian massage" is what a great many people type into a search box, and on our menu it means this same service — one style, two names. The comparison that actually helps is against the two treatments most guests already know. All three run every day from 10 AM to 9:30 PM, and all three can be adjusted while you are on the table.

If the real choice is between the two better-known options, our guide to Swedish versus deep tissue massage settles it in a few minutes of reading. If you want light and flowing but not the Hawaiian version, book Swedish relaxation massage at $65 for the hour. And if the feet are the actual problem, the body-and-foot combo gives you 40 minutes on the table and 20 on the feet for $60.
Who books it, and who should book something else
- People who dislike being poked. Continuous movement instead of static pressure suits anyone who tenses up the moment a therapist stops on one spot.
- Anyone curious about a style they cannot find nearby. Very few studios offer Lomi Lomi massage in McKinney, Prosper or Frisco — it is the least common thing on our menu and the reason a fair number of guests drive 15 or 20 minutes to reach us.
- Long-session bookers. The 90- and 120-minute versions suit a travelling stroke better than a 30-minute slot ever could, which is why we do not sell one.
- Not the right call if you want a single shoulder worked for twenty minutes, or if you dislike oil — this technique needs plenty of it.
What to look for in the best Lomi Lomi massage in McKinney
That is the phrase people type, so here is a straight answer to it. Nobody can rank a massage for you before you are on the table, and we are not going to hand ourselves the title. What you can check beforehand is the same short list at any studio. Is Lomi Lomi a named line on the published menu, or a Swedish hour relabelled at the desk? Does every length carry a printed price — here $80, $110 and $140 for 60, 90 and 120 minutes, on a first visit and a tenth? Does anyone say out loud that the pressure is adjustable mid-session, which matters more in a continuous style than in a static one? Is the closing time real — ours is 9:30 PM every day, so a 90-minute booking has to start by 8 PM? And is the establishment licensed by the state? Ask those five at every place on your shortlist, ours included, then read our Google listing, which we do not write or edit. The same argument across the whole menu sits on our page about what “best massage in McKinney” can actually mean.
What we will not claim about it
No approved health authority publishes anything about Lomi Lomi specifically — not the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, not Mayo Clinic, not the AMTA. So we make no claim that it treats, cures or improves any condition, and a studio that does is telling you something it cannot support.
What can be said honestly is what applies to massage in general. NCCIH's overview of massage therapy and what the research shows describes the evidence as limited and the relief as frequently short-term. Mayo Clinic's page on massage therapy lists it among general wellness and relaxation options and states plainly that it should not be painful. Both are worth five minutes before you book anything, anywhere. If a symptom is worsening, numb or radiating down a limb, see a clinician first.
On credentials: massage therapy in Texas is regulated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which issues the Massage Therapist licence under Chapter 455 of the Texas Occupations Code and licenses massage establishments as well. Spring Massage's own booking page describes its therapists as licensed massage therapists.

Spring Massage is at 1400 N Coit Rd #102, McKinney, TX 75071 — suite 102 in the Crescent Parc centre, on Coit Road at Prestwick Hollow Drive, one block south of US-380. Surface parking sits directly outside the door. The studio opened in August 2024 and is open every day, 10 AM to 9:30 PM. Booking runs through Setmore with live availability, so the slots on screen are the slots that exist, and same-day appointments are often among them. For tonight, see same-day and late-evening appointments; for turn-by-turn detail, our Coit Road directions page has it.
Drive times from around Collin County
This corner sits on the McKinney–Prosper–Frisco seam, which is why the run in is short from three directions: about 10 minutes for guests coming down from Prosper, about 15 for anyone driving up from Frisco, and about 18 from Celina. Stonebridge Ranch and the Eldorado Parkway corridor are roughly 10 to 12 minutes east. Every figure below is an off-peak estimate from road routing, not a measured time.
| From | Approx. drive |
|---|---|
| Prosper, TX | about 10 min |
| Frisco, TX | about 15 min |
| Celina, TX | about 18 min |
| Fairview, TX | about 22 min |
| Melissa, TX | about 25 min |
| Allen, TX | about 25 min |
Off-peak estimates from road routing, not measured times — US-380 slows at rush hour, so leave a cushion.
